On Power

Some have defined happiness as that which causes a rise in the sensation of power. Power in this sense is energy, the ability to do, to take action. Some have said that the opposite of depression is not happiness, but energy. Energy, or power. If you are capable of acting, then you have power.

What is inside your locus of control, this is what you have power over. Focus on that and your power will grow. If you attempt to exert power on something which you have no power over, you will only feel powerless. You must manage power and use it with effectiveness. One must rest to recover one’s power. Using power on things you cannot control leaves you feeling unfulfilled.

Some people have a larger locus of control than others. Certain people have the ability to influence the action of of many people. By developing a large locus of control you can gain power over smaller loci of control. This increases your own locus. Your power grows.

Having a large locus of control and being irresponsible with it is deplorable. You can be generous with your power when you are using it on the right things. The greatest use of your power is facilitating other peoples’ ability to use their own power.
